well. it actually started a few weeks ago. . .
that was when my in-laws came up for a visit. it was the first time jim had seen the house. we showed him the second floor (which has yet to be moved in to becuase we tore out all the carpet and are waiting for the new carpet to be installed - damn tax return took f-o-r-e-v-e-r!). you could see his eyes light up as soon as he saw it. all the potential!
he told us of his visions and we thought they were pretty great - especially since he'd do all the labor and work for free - we just needed an estimate first as we're on a tight budget (next to non-existent). so he was up there taking measurements when all of a sudden we heard - BAM! BAM! BAM! crap.
he knocked down a wall!
nothing upsetting just a - uh - wait wait wait - we needed an estimate FIRST! so after they left and chris and i discussed our options we decided to let jim do half of what he wanted and the other half (bathroom expansion) will be done at a later date. he's also going to fix the wall he took down since we decided we didn't actually want that one down. so it's all good. i hope....
he's upstairs right now working away with a promise it'll be complete by the end of the week. i'll be fine and dandy as long as it's done and we can get some carpet up there by the end of the month!
now to shower and get ready for work. i was able to take a short nap (no thanks to the white trash next door who decided to come outside the instant my head touched the pillow to hack out a lung and scream at her 3 screaming children) so hopefully i don't crash later...at least until bedtime!

Whenever we have issues with noise, I just make sure we have lots of fans in our bedroom and turn them all on high... white noise sometimes can block it out.
I'm sorry to hear your sleep is disastrous, as is mine. Kelly says it never really gets better. Le sigh. I'm handling it a thousand times better than I thought I would though--I thought I would become a monster without enough sleep, but I suppose I'm just too miserable in nausea to even react. xo
we have a fan in our room which helps a little but they are SO loud. it's just disgusting. i wish i had the balls to go out and tell them to take their hacking INSIDE but i don't want to create bad relations. hmph. sometimes i hate my timidness...
my friend commented on my status yesterday that she actually got more sleep once the babies (yes - she had twins) were born. hopefully that's the case with us. i'm so thankful to have my mom close by who's already volunteered to spend nights down here so i can sleep.
Yes, you ARE lucky! Both of our sets of parents live in Green Bay, so we will get *some* help, but given the due date (January), not as much (my parents haven't retired yet and are both teachers and Ryan's mother is extremely, extremely allergic to cats and we have two).
I hate that I'm glad I'm not the only one miserable with this sleep thing. It's so ridiculous! I thought I would get as much sleep as I could before the baby comes, but apparently not.
I'm feeling fairly ready to not sleep a lot, but I think my brain is stupid and assumes I will get a six or seven hour stretch in there, not realizing that baby will get hungry in the meanwhile! :)
